To secure a build slot for the DeLorean Alpha5, prospective buyers must pay a non-refundable fee of $2,500 and create a digital wallet for a “Build Slot NFT” bought with cryptocurrency, despite not knowing the final price or even production timeline for the vehicle that was first revealed in 2022. The car is one of two similar, but unconnected, vehicles in development from different DeLorean brands, with John Z. DeLorean’s daughter also behind a gullwinged EV as a tribute to her father.
